Processing Black And White Film

1.) List the materials (equipment) necessary to process black and white film
You will need:
  • running water
  • chemical manufacturer specification sheets
  • a place where you can mix liquids.
  • Measuring Beakers or Graduates
  • Very accurate thermometer
  • Stir sticks
  • Funnels
  • Maybe a water filter
  • Storage Bottles

2.) List the chemicals we might be using in the darkroom and where one would buy those chemicals
  • developer
  • stop bath
  • fixer
  • hypo clearing agent
  • wetting agent
3.) Summarize in one or two paragraphs the process from start to finish
First start in a completely dark room, put the film in a stop bath, pour in the developer chemical and from there begin the actual process of devoloping your film. Leave it about 30 seconds so the chemicals could stay on the film. Pour water into the open part of the tank to stop the development of the pictures. Place the fixer onto the film by pouring it into tank. it will take at least five minutes.
Then pour in the solution, and then fill it with cold water. Let the water set for 30 seconds, and then pour the water out. Wash your film, and then do a final rinse. Pour hypo eliminator solution into the tank and let the wash aid settle for two minutes. Put the film on a wash pin, but avoid touching the negatives. .

4.) Post a photo of the equipment necessary to process film

5.) Post a photo of the chemicals necessary to process film

 1. Contact Sheet- a contact print, usually of all frames of a developed roll of negative print film, used as a proof print.
2. Agitation-  to give motion to
3. Enlarger-
an apparatus used for making projection prints, having a head for holding, illuminating, and projecting a film negative and a bed for holding a sheet of sensitized printing paper.

4. Developer-a reducing agent or solution for developing a film or the like.
5. Stop Bath.-an acid bath or rinse for stopping the action of a developer before fixing a negative or print.
6. Fixer- a chemical substance, as sodium thiosulfate, used to promote fixation.
