The Camera

Some words that I think that are important to the single-lens camera are:

• semi-automatic- partly automatic
• parallax-is an apparent displacement or difference in the apperent position of  an  object viewed along two different lines.
• pentaprism- is a five sided reflecting prism used to deviate a beam of light by 90 degrees.
• autofocus-  optical system used a sensor a control system and a motor to focus fully automatic or on a manually selected pointy or area.

• aperture- an opening, as a hole, slit, crack or gap.
• shutter-  a mechanical device for opening and closing the aperture of a camera lens to expose the film or the like.
• exposure- the act of presenting a photosensitive surface to rays of light.
• depth of field- the range of distances along the axis of an optical instrument, usually a camera lens, through which an object will produce a relatively distinct image.
• F-stop- the setting of an adjustable lens aperture, as indicated by an f number
• focal length- the distance from a focal point of a lens or mirror to the corresponding principal plane.
